In addition to the tax cut the Convservatives are calling for tougher penalties on crime. The speech promises to deliver a sweeping anti-crime bill which will provide stiffer penalties.

The Conservatives also mention that Canada will not be able to meet its obligations under the Kyoto Accord. The Kyoto Accord called for limits on pollution.

The speech also calls for a vote on the Afghanistan issue. Canadian troops are currently in Afghanistan as peacekeepers.
